Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for calcination operations
- Access, interpret and apply calcinations activities documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Coordinate and communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Select appropriate type of auxiliary equipment for work activities
- Carry out pre-start, start-up, park up, shutdown and secure equipment procedures
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be ready for fire/accident/emergency
- Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
- Ensure area is well ventilated before entry
- Start-up equipment in sequence
- Operate and monitor equipment
- Read and interpret data from equipment indicators to determine calcination efficiency
- Continuously inspect and monitor operations/plant and catchment areas to identify process defects and potential problems
- Adjust equipment to approved operating parameters to optimise and maintain efficient calcining and to meet product quality targets
- Add reagents to approved operating parameters
- Determine the effects adjustments have on upstream or downstream outputs and communicate to others
- Complete all required documentation clearly, concisely and on time
- Pass on end of shift information verbally or in writing to oncoming shift
- Shutdown in sequence and/or isolate equipment
- Conduct housekeeping activities
